HOSPITAL:
Hospital services touches everyone in the community....young or
old. Our local hospital is The Scarborough Hospital [ TSH ] with
2 sites. The Grace Site is located on Birchmount Rd and Finch
Ave. The Grace Site generally serve the 300.000 people who live
North of the 401. The TSH at the Grace Site is over capacity and
under serviced. IE: most of us have experience long wait time in
emergency, or waiting for a procedure to be done at the hospital.
If we increase the density of this Bridelwood Mall development
of 1, 400 units of 6 or 8 buildings on this property with
additional over 4,000 people in an area that is already under
serviced health system, I believe the community will suffer even
greater. Currently there is no plan by the Central East Local
Health Integrated Network [ CELHIN ] to accommodate the people
that will be moving in to our area. In addition, there is a
massive growth in Markham just North of us. These people will
be coming down to use TSH.
To expand a hospital, it takes time and capital. The question I
have is : Is it fair to have so many more people move in to a
already stressed hospital service area? Currently there is no
plan or commitment by the province to expand TSH? How will we
service these huge number of people? We, the community believes
hospital services must be expanded before 4000 new residents can
move into this community.
Thank you.
