Does Stand Up Bridletowne have any real interest in seeing the City of Toronto Planning Department's
Area Revitalization Study
work as it should?
After the first meeting of the study group was somewhat de-railed [by special interests], a few SUB members had a number of conversations with the planners to re-assure them that we (and most of those attending) were shocked and frustrated by the lack of progress - and that we were anxious to see the process on track again.
Does SUB want to derail the
Area study?:
No, we want to see the study succeed including the concerns of the community as we see them.
As stated on our home page with respect to the mall redevelopment proposal:
The Stand Up Bridletowne Committee was organized to assist and influence the City Planning
Department, the Developer and the Mall Owner to modify the application:
- to better fit into the existing community,
- to not further overload existing services such as sewers, schools,
hydro, police, hospitals and health care,
- to enhance, not lower, quality of life for the residents in the area,
- to enhance, not lower, property values in the area,
- to ensure a profitable future for Bridlewood Mall so that it can once
again be an asset to the neighbourhood and
- to avoid creating a ghetto on the property.
