T I M E L I N E
History and overview of efforts to August 20, 2008:
June 5, 2007 – Councillor Mike Del Grande, Ward 39 held a Town Hall meeting at L’Amoreaux Collegiate Institute to advise area residents of an upcoming application for development of the Bridlewood Mall. The proposed plan was discussed in much detail as the increased density and impact upon services already overloaded caused concern with the area residents and service providers.
July 10, 2007 – Councillor Del Grande holds community meeting to discuss mall development issues.
February 28, 2008 – Councillor Del Grande and his staff met with the mall owner, Fishman Holdings North America Inc., the developer, Malibu Investments, their lawyer, Sherman Brown Dryer Karol and their architect Page + Steele to discuss changes to the plan in light of the June 5, 2007 town hall meeting.
March 3, 2008 – Malibu Investments met with City Planning Staff; staff raised concerns with the proposed heights of the residential buildings.
March 19, 2008- Councillor Del Grande holds community meeting to discuss mall development issues.

May 14, 2008 – Councillors office provides information on how to register to speak or write a letter to Scarborough Community Council regarding the June 10, 2008 hearing on the Preliminary Report – Rezoning Application at 2900 Warden Avenue, Bridlewood Mall. It was felt by many who called to register that we were being dissuaded from doing so because it was “just a preliminary report”.
June 8, 2008 – Herb Richter, Helen Jankul and Patricia Sinclair met with Gaila Feiler, CEO, Fishman Holdings North America Inc., Terry Lustig, Malibu Investments Ltd. and Grace Russo, Mall Operation Representative at the L’Amoreaux Community Centre to make it clear that we welcome development that is reasonable and sensitive to the neighbourhood. It is in all our best interests to ensure good planning and design. Two days prior to the meeting, Ms. Feiler, directed the Developer to advise Ward 39 Councillor that they would be open to community involvement.
June 10, 2008 – Over 150 residents from our community attended the Scarborough Community Council Meeting at the Scarborough Civic Centre to hear the Rezoning Application proceedings. Over a dozen speakers voiced their concerns regarding the proposed plan. Council directed that nine issues be undertaken in relation to the Application given the concerns raised by the community and the Councillor.
